BUS DRIVER
Van Driver/Youth Bus Driver
School/Youth Bus Endorsement – Transportation
Primary Function
This position is responsible for providing safe and prompt transportation of children ages 6–17 years old from school to the Boys & Girls Club. A driver may also be required to provide transportation for the children on field trips on occasion.
Qualifications
- Current CDL Class B. (CLASS-B Commercial LICENSED DRIVER with passenger endorsement preferred). Must have five years of driving experience (personal or professional). Must have a DMV Driver Record printout dated within the past 30 days of application.
- Ability to provide supervision.
- Must be able to interact appropriately and positively with children ages 6–17 years old.
- Must have the ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems.
- Provide mentoring, leadership, and supervision to assure proper conduct, safety, and development of participants in line with our mission.
- Responsible for maintaining required licenses and certifications to transport passengers.
- Responsible for the safety and supervision of children while in the van, in transit, and exiting the van.
- Responsible for knowing assigned routes, schedules, and passengers for each day.
- Safe operation of the vehicle as per Boys & Girls Club, state, and federal transportation policies. Ensure vehicles are safe, well ventilated, and equipment is maintained in good working condition.
- Responsible for ensuring that all passengers follow rules regarding safety in vehicles and for enforcing those rules.
- Responsible for daily maintenance of vehicles, including interior cleanliness, fluid and fuel levels, documented pre-trip operation, and vehicle inspections.
- Support Club administration in the local drop-off/delivery of donations or supplies as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must carry a valid CDL Class B with passenger endorsement. (Class-B Commercial Licensed preferred). Must be willing to test for and obtain a Class B license if required.
- Two years of experience working in a related field preferred.
- Must have a minimum of five years of driving experience.
- Submit to a fingerprint/background check.
- Submit a clean driving record from the DMV and COVID vaccination card.
- Drug test and physical required upon offer of employment.

Compensation & Employment Details
Salary Range: $19.00–$26.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE) and endorsements.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL
The Youth Development Professional will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a broad range of programs and services at our main site in Monterey Park. Plan and implement program activities with particular focus on asynchronous work/homework help and enrichment activities. Staff will follow and implement program and student work schedule on a daily basis.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities)
- Help children with homework (asynchronous work).
- Follow daily activity plans for enrichment and physical activities.
- Implement discipline techniques and classroom management.
- Ensure all youth are properly supervised and encouraged to participate in activities.
- Record and submit daily attendance records of participants.
- Provide opportunities to observe holidays that explore cultural diversity (Cinco de Mayo, Chinese New Year, etc.).
- Promote achievement through displays of recognition on the walls of the Club (pictures, projects, and awards).
- Ability to develop programs based on knowledge/interests (i.e., photography, art, music, etc.).
- Provide leadership and supervision, ensuring the safety of club members at all times.
- Maintain the appearance and functionality of the Club and its equipment, supplies, and materials.
- Assist in the Club Transportation Program (obtain/maintain Class C license).
- Ensure all Club policies and procedures are upheld in accordance with our Club mission with all program staff.
- Other duties as assigned will be required as well. You must be flexible as determined by the needs of the program (occasional Saturdays, late-night hours, and events).
Condition of Employment and Benefits
This is a part-time, non-benefited, non-exempt position with an hourly rate ranging from $18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE). This position requires the candidate to be available for work Monday–Friday, approximately 1:30 PM–7:00 PM. Occasional weekend work is also required.
Minimum Qualifications
Must currently have a valid Class C driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation to work. Applicants will submit to a fingerprint/background check and submit a clean “K-4” printout from the DMV.
- High school diploma.
- Background and fingerprint clearance.
Hours per Week
- 20–27 hours.
